Only dex. I concentrate on pure melee Dng without a specific build. And i never had a problem with the game. I managaed do get to phase 2 by Malenia at the 5th attempt and defeated her an hour later. Friends of mine are trying deceral builds (like a blood build) but they habe way more problems than I had. And I didnt use mimic tear as well.
While I never really go pure caster in these games, as a heads up Elden Ring has some slow ramping FP gains where you get a pitiful +3 per mind up through 20 (which is an even 100 FP). then it starts giving you +6 per level for a while. at least, according to the wiki. Yeah pure caster seems like an issue unless you have a lot of pots
